Mays MBA Program Among Wall Street Journal, Forbes' Top Picks
For the first time, the Mays MBA Program was ranked among the world's top 50
programs in the Wall Street Journal's third annual survey of MBA programs. In
the 2003 survey, Mays ranked 47th overall and 16th among public business
schools. In addition, Forbes ranked the Mays MBA Program 32nd overall and 11th
among public universities in its 2003 rankings. Read more about the recent

Cushing Library Opens Thomas Nast Exhibit
The Cushing Memorial Library and Archives, a division of the Texas A&M
University Libraries, is currently showing an exhibit of prints by Thomas Nast,
the 19th century illustrator and political cartoonist. Nast was the creator of
several of the most enduring modern icons, including the Republican elephant
and Santa Claus. He is also remembered for his part in destroying the Tammany
Hall/Tweed Ring operating within the New York City political arena through his
satirical cartoons in newspapers and magazines of the period. The exhibit,
which draws from the Mary and Mavis P. Kelsey Print Collection, will run
through January 2004 in the Wendler Gallery on the second floor of Cushing

Department of Computer Science to Host Former Student Picnic
The Department of Computer Science in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at
Texas A&M University will hold its first CS Former Student Picnic on
Friday, October 24, 2003. A picnic lunch will be served from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30
p.m. on the lawn next to the Civil Engineering Building--across Ross Street
from the H.R. Bright Building. Tours of the computer science department will be
available from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The department invites all its former
students to come by and enjoy a memorable day on campus. To get more

Office of Admissions to Host Aggieland Saturday
Once a year, prospective students and their families travel to Texas A&M
University to experience the spirit of Aggieland. Aggieland Saturday, Texas
A&M University's premiere open house event, will be held from 9:00 a.m. -
2:30 p.m. on November 8, 2003 in Reed Arena. This program continues to be the
only university-wide open house specifically designed for prospective
undergraduate students. Participants will enjoy entertainment from student
organizations and can attend in information sessions addressing
academic colleges, admissions, financial aid, and other student services.
Students can also browse numerous resource tables from academic programs,
student services, and student organizations. For additional information,

Searching for Dean and CEO of A&M Qatar
Texas A&M University Provost David B. Prior has initiated a search for a
new Dean and Chief Executive Officer of Texas A&M University at Qatar
(TAMUQ). The new campus, located in the emirate's capital city of Doha, offers
undergraduate programs in chemical, electrical, mechanical, and petroleum
engineering, and will have research institutes co-located in Doha and College
Station. The dean and CEO will report to the Executive Vice President and
Provost of Texas A&M University in College Station and coordinate
activities with the deans of engineering, liberal arts, and science, as well as
appropriate vice presidents and directors at Texas A&M University, College
Station. The dean and CEO for TAMUQ will be responsible for the administration
and management of the academic, research, and public service programs of the
institution as well as providing vision and direction for this newly

Retired Mascot Reveille VI Euthanized Oct. 18
Reveille VI, who served as the First Lady of Texas A&M University for more
than seven years, was euthanized Saturday (Oct. 18) at the age of 10. Dr.
Charles Hall, her veterinarian and retirement caretaker, as well as other Texas
A&M veterinarians, facilitated the decision based on the status of her
health. Funeral services are pending and tentatively scheduled after Nov. 1.
Reveille VI was born Sept. 3, 1993 in Woodward, Okla. and took over as Texas
A&M's mascot from Reveille V during halftime of the football game against
the University of Louisville on Nov. 13 of that year. Upon induction into the
Aggie family, she quickly assumed the roles and duties of her predecessor and
began attending university functions including football games. For the full

student of Texas A&M University. The award, jointly sponsored by The
