Charles Rankin Puls

November 9, 1935 - March 21, 2024

Charles Rankin Puls departed this life and entered the presence of his beloved Lord and Savior on March 21, 2024. Charley died peacefully surrounded by family.

Born November 9,1935 in Houston, Texas, Charley left a legacy of love and grace to the many friends he knew. Charley’s life was marked by a vivacious personality, a tenacity to take on challenges and a gracious disposition to others.

Raised in the Houston Heights, Charley grew up loving all things baseball. He attended John H. Reagan High School and was a member of the 1952 Reagan Bulldog state championship baseball team. Charley attended Texas A&M University where he studied engineering and played baseball for the Aggies. As a 2nd baseman on the Aggies 1955 Southwest Conference Championship team, Charley help solidify an infield that at the time set a record for the number of double plays turned in a single season.

After college, Charley briefly served in the US Army and then worked as a civil engineer for the Texas Highway Department in Houston. After more than a decade in civil engineering, he established a business in real estate. In 1972, Charley met the love of his life, Anne Tate. They married in 1973, and he remained devoted and loyal to Anne until her passing nearly 50 years later. In 1975, the couple moved to New Braunfels, Texas. Charley loved living in the Texas hill country, and he poured his heart and energy into caring for Anne and raising their children.

Charley’s greatest and most enduring legacy was his deep love for God’s Word and his fervent desire to serve the Lord Jesus. He had a passion to know and study the Bible – particularly Biblical interpretation, Eschatology and God’s future for the nation of Israel. He loved to discuss and share the deep truths with others, and he lived life with both an eternal perspective and an eager anticipation of the Lord’s return.

Charley will be dearly and profoundly missed by his surviving family. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that tax deductible donations be directed to Jews for Jesus: jewsforjesus.org.
