Frank Thomas Hines 

May 5, 1933 - March 6, 2024 

Frank Thomas Hines passed away at age 90 in his home in Alexandria, Virginia on March 6, 2024. He was born on May 5, 1933 in Bartlett, Texas. He graduated from Sharp High School (Sharp, Texas) in June 1950, where he was his class valedictorian and Class President. He often spoke about riding horseback 8 miles from Davilla, Texas (where he lived with his parents) to school. After high school, he earned a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Texas A&M University in 1954 and was commissioned through Air Force ROTC the same, entering extended active duty in March 1955.

Frank had a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Air Force, achieving the rank of Colonel and serving in various leadership roles, and served during the Vietnam War. He earned a Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University in 1970, and attended the Foreign Service Institute to learn Spanish in 1977. Upon retiring from the Air Force, Frank worked in the private sector for over 25 years. He then served as a federal government civilian employee for five years.

Frank married his true love Ana Hines on December 7, 1978, and enjoyed golfing and watching football, particularly his beloved Cowboys. Frank cherished family gatherings and summer vacations, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather.

Frank is preceded in death by Oscar Louis Hines (father) and Grace Heath (mother), Ana Hines (wife), Gracie (sister), Kay Louise Flados (daughter), Diana (daughter), Terry Oliver (sister-in-law), and Hugh Oliver (brother-in-law). He is survived by daughters Dolores Fox, Linda Dove, and Lisa Smith; niece Stacey Gonzales; grandchildren Sean Patrick O'Briant, Jacqueline (Nikki) and Kyle Baker, Trey Smith; and great-grandchild Anna Baker.

Frank will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery alongside his late wife. Details regarding funeral arrangements and celebration of life will be provided once available.
