Trisha Butler '90 May 7, 2024 4:29 PM updated: May 7, 2024 4:34 PM

Trisha (Stock) Butler

January 12, 1966 - March 3, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce that our beloved wife, mother and friend quietly slipped loose the bonds of earth and went to her eternal home in the early hours of Sunday morning, March 3rd, 2024.

She was 58.

Trisha was born on January 12th, 1966 in the little town of Canadian, TX. After graduating from Canadian High School in 1984, she attended Texas Woman’s University and would go on to graduate from Texas A&M University with degrees in finance and accounting all the while working full time as a financial analyst.

She married her husband, Matthew, in 1990 and became a mother in 2005. She spent her last years devoted to her family and home schooling their daughter, Kathryn.

Trisha discovered a love of mathematics and physics early in life. She invented a number of new technologies and was preparing to go to the University of Wyoming with her daughter to earn a PhD in physics when she was called home.

She played the piano, loved to hike, grew roses and built a small farm to feed her family. In her last year, she battled an aggressive form of cancer and fought to the bitter end, telling her new oncologist on her last day that she would not give up the fight and she expected him not to give it up either.

But even from an early age, her greatest passion was for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She read her now tattered Bible religiously and inspired her husband and daughter to walk in the ways of the Lord. Her faith wasn’t a religion but a relationship with her Father in heaven.

In spite of spending the last three months of her life in a hospital, she never forgot where her eternal home is and never forgot Christ’s admonition to love others as herself. Even through the pain, she greeted anyone who entered her room with a smile and a thumbs up and sent them out with a blessing. She showered the staff and her family with affection even while facing the toughest battle of her life. Her husband and daughter stayed by her side around the clock and are grateful for the time they had with her.

She is truly a godly woman who is beautiful both inside and out.

Trisha is survived by her husband of 33 years, Matthew, their daughter Kathryn, 19, and their cat Abraham, 20, for whom she fended off an 18 wheeler when she found him dying on a highway.

Heartbroken, they look forward to the day when they will once again hold Trisha in their arms through the Resurrection and the Life that is Jesus Christ.
