Jerry Barnett Mitchell 

December 1, 1938 - April 16, 2024 

Jerry Barnett Mitchell, 85, passed away on April 16, 2024, in Palestine, Texas. He was born on December 1, 1938 in Nashville, Arkansas to Barney and Loraine Mitchell.

Jerry graduated in 1963 with a degree in Finance from Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets. He later served in the U.S. Navy. Jerry and Edith celebrated 50 years of marriage on March 9, 2024. Jerry used his degree in finance to start and successfully operate Nutri-Centre Natural Foods for 37 years. Jerry was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church Palestine.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Barney and Loraine Mitchell, grandson Tyler Mitchell, and son Scott Gotcher. He is survived by his loving wife Edith, son James Mitchell and wife Susan, daughter in law Beth Gotcher, brother Paul Mitchell and wife Sally. He was Pop Pop to Eric and Grace Gotcher, Ryan Garcia, and Amber Williams.

A celebration of life in honor of Jerry Barnett Mitchell will be held at Bailey & Foster Chapel, Palestine, Texas on Saturday, April 20 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tony Watson officiating. Visitation will be held at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
