Vernon Bryan Glenn, Sr. 

April 9, 1896 - March 9, 1977 

Services for Vernon B. Glenn, 80, 119 E. Denman Ave., Lufkin, are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Friday in the Gipson Funeral Chapel with Dr. W. Morris House officiating with burial in Glendale Cemetery.

Mr. Glenn was born April 9, 1896, in Keltys, and died Wednesday in Linden after a brief illness.

He was the son of Lufkin pioneers W. M. Glenn and Nannie Smith Glenn.

He married Ruth Childers, daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. D. M. Childers in 1922, and was associated with his father in the W. M. Glenn & Co. for a number of years.

He joined Lufkin Industries in 1937 and retired in 1965. In retirement, he joined the Gipson Funeral Home and served from 1965 until retirement in 1976. He was a member of the Lufkin Masonic Lodge No. 669 AF & AM and a member of the Scottish Rite Bodies. He served in WWI and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

Survivors: son, Dr. Vernon B. Glenn, Jr.; daughter, Mrs. Gerry Glenn Drew; sister, Mrs. Ruth Hughes; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
