Logan Douglas Wells

July 23, 1994 - April 14, 2024

Logan Douglas Wells of Houston, Texas, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on the afternoon of Sunday, April 14, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born on July 23, 1994, in Sierra Vista, Arizona, to loving parents Douglas Gipson Wells and Leanne Nicole Wells (Hennessy-Loyd). At the time of his passing, Logan was twenty-nine years old.

Logan’s vibrant spirit and warm smile illuminated every room he entered, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. He had a gift for spreading joy and laughter, and uplifting those around him. Always concerned with everyone else, he cherished every moment with his family and friends, finding solace in their company and creating lasting memories that will be cherished.

Logan was a graduate of Elkins High School in Missouri City, Texas, and Texas A & M University at Galveston, where he received a B.S. in Marine Transportation, earned his U.S. Coast Guard Third Mate Unlimited Tonnage Unlimited Oceans license, and was also a member of the Texas A & M Maritime Academy Corps of Cadets.

During his time at Texas A & M University at Galveston, he sailed on training cruises on the California State University Maritime Academy Training Ship Golden Bear, the Texas A & M University Maritime Academy Training Ship General Rudder, and the Massachusetts Maritime Academy Training Ship Kennedy. His love of his work led him to a career as a Mate on riverboats on both the Mississippi and Columbia Rivers, where he served with the Hornblower Group subsidiary American Queen Voyages. Notably, Logan’s final passage was aboard the American Queen, the largest river steamboat ever constructed. This stands as a fitting tribute to his love of the water and his sailing career.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Leanne, by his grandmothers Jade Lee Hennessy and Mildred James Wells, and grandfather Jimmy Howard Hennessy. He is survived by his father, Douglas Gipson Wells and step-mother Chelo Impas Wells of Houston, Texas, his brother Landon Ryan Wells with fiancé Jazmin Stefany (Wells) Roman of Chicago, Illinois, his sister Peyton Wells (Herman) with fiancé Scott Herman of Brookshire, Texas, his grandfather James Gipson Wells of Katy, Texas, his favorite nephew Ryder Axel Herman and favorite niece Henley Leanne Herman of Brookshire, Texas, his step-brother Eric Impas Laredo Jr. of London, United Kingdom, his step-brother Eduane Impas Laredo of Cebu City, Philippines, and his step-sister Erica Chloe Impas Laredo of Houston, Texas.

Logan’s legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him. While his absence leaves a void that can never be filled, his spirit will continue to guide the voyages of all who were touched by his presence in life.

A visitation for Logan will be held Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Katy Funeral Home, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. A memorial service will occur Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, 23350 Kingsland Blvd, Katy, TX 77494. An urn committal will occur Sunday, June 2, 2024 from 3:30 PM to 4:00 PM at Morton Cemetery, 900 Morton St, Richmond, TX 77469.
