Kirk Matthew Mullenax

July 29, 1960 - February 11, 2024

Kirk Matthew Mullenax was born on July 29, 1960, in Port Arthur, Texas to Jeanette McClosky Mullenax and Manuel Mullenax. He grew up in Beaumont on Bristol Drive with his four brothers, David, Mike, Don and Greg, and sister, Leslie.

As a child he enjoyed sports, riding his bike everywhere and playing with his many friends in the neighborhood. He attended St. Anne’s Catholic School through eighth grade and went on to Forest Park High School where he played football and excelled in academics. After high school he attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a degree in engineering. Kirk worked at General Dynamics in Dallas, but his creative spirit and love for art would pull him in a new direction. He moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico, and while restoring and framing artwork, he began a successful art career. Kirk was invited to showcase his work at art shows throughout the United States, winning numerous awards.

In 2017, he moved to the small town of Fayette, Alabama, continuing his art career while restoring one of the oldest houses in the county. Kirk would tackle anything and even briefly drove eighteen-wheelers. Kirk possessed an adventurous spirit and traveled the world. He loved to cook, ride his mountain bike, and was always interested in learning new things. He had a great love for God and was devout in his Catholic faith. On Thanksgiving, Kirk came home from Alabama to be with his family. After a courageous battle, he left to be with our heavenly father on February 11, 2024, at the age of 63.

We were inspired and privileged to share these last months with him. Kirk Mullenax was a gentle and kind soul, and the world was a better place with him in it. Our son, brother, uncle and friend was loved and will be missed.

Memorial contributions may be made to TAN Healthcare, 1495 North 7th Street, Beaumont, Texas 77702.

Arrangements for Mr. Mullenax were handled under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
