June 15, 1951 - May 27, 2022 

Graveside services for Thomas Saunders, 70, of Giddings, Texas, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 4, 2022 in the Giddings City Cemetery.

Thomas Gordon Saunders was born on June 15, 1951 in San Saba, Texas to Dr. James Saunders and Betty (Doran) Saunders. On April 10, 1977, he was united in marriage to Virginia Korb. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Thomas worked as a petroleum engineer for Tenneco, ARCO International, and BP. Traveling was part of the business and he looked forward to the trips as it helped support his family. He also spent time working as a counselor at Texas state hospitals that supported individuals with disabilities. Thomas enjoyed hunting and managing the deer population on the family land. He also enjoyed watching A&M football, reading non-fiction books, watching movies, and studying.

Thomas passed away the morning of Friday, May 27, 2022 at his home in Giddings.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. James & Betty Saunders; three brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Virginia Saunders of Giddings; five children, Claire Saunders of Giddings, Elizabeth & Kyle Kuehl of Giddings, Kathleen & Dane Nelson of Katy, Rebecca & Leo Belovoskey III of Oklahoma, and Thomas Saunders, Jr. of Giddings; four grandchildren, Annelise Kuehl, Finnly Kuehl, and James Kuehl of Giddings, and Leo Belovoskey IV of Oklahoma; six siblings, JoEllen Howle of Granbury, James & Carol Saunders III of Florida, Terry Key of Universal City, Patrick & Donna Saunders of Ledbetter, Jeffery Saunders of Schertz, and Robert Saunders of Castroville, and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
