Kenneth Vernon Lockett, Sr. 

September 11, 1929 - March 28, 2024 

Kenneth, 94, known by some as Buffalo, was born September 11, 1929, on his family ranch in Concho County to parents William Vernon Lockett and Thelma Hazel Lockett (Dumas). The eldest of three boys. Kenneth graduated from Eden High School in 1945 and attended Sul Ross and Texas A&M University.

In 1949 he married Betty Lou Lockett (Stuart). He went into ranching, with his father, in Concho and Coleman counties. In 1956 he graduated from the Texas Department of Public Safety. He ran a truck stop in Early from 1963 to 1970. During his lifetime he held many positions from rancher to business owner. His passion was ranching and car sales. He and his son, Kenny, ran Buffalo Auto in Brownwood from 1991 until his retirement in 2015.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Hazel; first wife Berry Lou and second wife Sandra. He is survived by his two brothers, Luster Lockett and Philip Lockett. Also survived by his three children; Kathy (Gary), Kenny Jr, and Kerry (Jackie); seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and multiple nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be on April 3 at 1 pm at Eden Funeral Home with a graveside service at the Lockett-Loveless Cemetery in Concho County. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lockett-Loveless Cemetery, Eden, Texas.
