Clynton Leroy Hafner 

December 8, 1936 - April 29, 2024 

Services for Clynton Leroy Hafner, Jr., 87, of Longview will be held at First Baptist Church of Longview on Monday, May 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with Rev. Richard Johnson officiating. A visitation will be held at Rader Funeral Home on Sunday, May 5, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. Leroy passed away on Monday, April 29. 2024 in Longview, TX.

Leroy was born on December 8, 1936, in Jacksonville, TX to Clint and Neva Todd Hafner. Upon his graduation from Longview High School, he attended Kilgore College and graduated from Louisiana Tech with a degree in mechanical engineering; and later received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University. Leroy worked for several years at General Dynamics in the office located in the Lone Star Steel Company then joined Texas Eastman Company, where he retired after 33 years.

Leroy was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Longview where he served as a deacon and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was an avid golfer and woodcarver.

Leroy was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish their memories of Leroy include his wife of almost 65 years, Patricia Doane Hafner; son Michael Hafner and wife Penny of Richmond, TX; daughter Kathryn Costlow and husband Terry of Bellville, TX; granddaughter Brittany Matthews and husband Tony, granddaughter Cortney Hafner, granddaughter Morgan Williams and husband Austin, granddaughter Maddie Gesford and husband Christian, 4 great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family and friends.

The family is asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
