John Bremer Sr. '67 June 3, 2024 3:47 PM updated: June 3, 2024 4:17 PM

John Ernest Bremer, Sr.

January 28, 1942 - January 28, 2024

John Ernest Bremer (82), of Sinton, TX, returned to his heavenly home on January 28, 2024, with his loving wife of 53 years, Patsy, by his side.

?John was born in Beeville, TX on January 28, 1942, to Alvin and Hilda Bremer, and grew up with his sisters, Alice and Elaine, on a farm in San Patricio County. He attended school in Sinton, where he developed lifelong friendships and participated in many agriculture and church related activities. John graduated from Sinton High School in 1960. He earned his B.S. in Agriculture Education from Texas A & I University, Kingsville in 1965 and his M.S. in Entomology from Texas A & M University, College Station in 1967.

?He worked as an Ag teacher in Odem, TX before becoming Principal. After earning his Ph.D. in Soil Chemistry from Oklahoma State University in 1975, he worked as an Agronomist with Texas A & M Agricultural Extension Service until his retirement. While he enjoyed consulting, he was always a farmer at heart. Even after his official retirement, he continued to farm. He loved the land and he loved Sinton. He served his community faithfully. He served as the President of the School Board of Sinton ISD for many years and served Grace Lutheran Church as the President of the Church Council.

?More than anything, John loved his family. He married his beloved wife, Patsy, on January 22, 1971. Their children, Shari, Patrick, Michelle and John Jr. were the center of his world. He was a loving father who was active in their lives and instilled a love for agriculture in his children. He also modeled community service and humility. His thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild delighted him, and he loved to spend time with them and tease them. He jokingly reminded his family that he was “the Boss” even as he modeled Mark 9:35, “Anyone who wants to be first must be the very last, and the servant of all.” He was generous, kind and steadfastly put others first.

?John is survived by his adored wife Patsy; children: Shari (Joey) John of Carrizo Springs, TX, Patrick (Lynda) Clarke of Hondo, TX, Michelle Wendel (Robert Hoelscher) of Violet, TX, and John Jr. (Laurie) Bremer of Sinton, TX; grandchildren: Christopher (Garrett Mathison), Katryna and Jay-P John; Dalton and Lacy Clarke; Elizabeth, Ashley, and D’Elle Wendel; Faith, Joshua, Benjamin, Hope and Charity Bremer; great-grandprincess: Bailey Wendel; sisters: Alice Luedke and Elaine (Raymond) Brundrett; sister-in-law: Marilyne (Don) Rogers as well as dear cousins, nieces, nephews and countless friends.

?John is preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Hilda Bremer, and brothers-in-law, Daniel Don (Linda) Hogan and Alton Luedke.
