Emilio Rendon

July 28, 1945 - April 23, 2024

Dr. Emilio Rendon, 78, passed away peacefully at his Harper, TX home on April 23, 2024. Dr. Emilio was a proud veteran who served 3 tours in Vietnam with the United States Marine Corp.

Dr. Emilio was born on July 28th, 1945, in San Antonio, TX. After completing his last Vietnam tour in 1968, Dr. Emilio returned to San Antonio to pursue an education. During this time, he met and fell in love with Annie Lange, who he married on July 4th, 1969. Annie was the love of his life and, as he would always say, his greatest accomplishment.

Dr. Emilio earned his bachelor’s degree from Southwest Texas State University and became a history teacher. After 17 years of teaching at Harlandale High School in San Antonio, he decided to pursue more learnings. He earned his Master’s degree from Incarnate Word College in San Antonio, and then followed this up with a Doctorate degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX in 1999. Becoming a Doctor was the second greatest accomplishment of his life.

Dr. Emilio will be remembered by his loving family: Annie Rendon (wife), Joe and Gabby Rendon (son and daughter-in-law) and Rebecca Rendon-Lott (daughter). He will be missed by his grandchildren: Lucas, Natasha, Mason, Bryson and Lexy. He is preceeded by his youngest son Michael – the chance to see Michael again brought him joy in his final days.

The viewing and rosary will be 6 pm on Friday, May 3rd at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Harper, TX. Mass will be at 10 am on Saturday, May 4th at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, followed by the burial at St. Anthony’s Catholic Cemetery.
