Penelope L. "Penny" Skelley 

July 7, 1952 - January 29, 2024 

Penelope L. Skelley, 71 years old, passed away on January 29, 2024, at home in Thorndale, Texas.

She was born in Peoria, Illinois, on July 7, 1952. Penny attended college in Illinois, where she received a degree in Library Sciences. She moved to Texas in the 1970s and worked in the Hitech industry for many years. Later, she went on to receive a Bachelor's degree in Business from St. Edwards in Austin; this was before she discovered her true passion in caring for animals. Penny attended Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and received a Doctorate Of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1989. She practiced Veterinary Medicine in Central Texas for many years. Later, she worked for the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) for over a decade, providing resources and support to Veterinarians across the country.

Penny had a deep desire to be creative and spent much of her time Drawing and Watercolor painting. She also greatly enjoyed the Fiber Arts, including spinning, knitting, and weaving. Her passion for animals included raising llamas for more than 20 years, as well as never turning away a stray animal that wandered up to the farm.

Penny is survived by her husband of 35 years, Carl W. Skelley of Thorndale, Texas. and her cousin, Donna Phillips of Scottsdale, Arizona.

A funeral service for Penelope will be held Monday, February 5, 2024, from 11:00 a.m., at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home, 14501 North Interstate 35, Pflugerville, Texas 78660. Committal will follow at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas.
