Roy Thomas "Tom" McCrory 

January 24, 1952 - January 21, 2024 

Roy Thomas (Tom) McCrory went to be with our Lord on January 21, 2024. He was 71 years old.

Tom was born on January 24, 1952, to parents Eugene Lawson McCrory and Bobbie Gene Scurlock. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Jimmie McCrory and Dennis McCrory. One sister: Becky McCrory, and Grandson Sean William McCrory.

Tom is survived by his beloved wife; Kelly Barber McCrory of Trinity, Sons; Beau Lawson (Brandy) McCrory of Plainview and Shane Alan (Shanna) McCrory of Trinity. Stepdaughters; Taylor Renee Tubeville of Trinity and Kathryn Rosamund Johnson of Huntsville. Grandchildren; Kristofer Lawson McCrory, Ethan Thomas McCrory, Zachary Tyler McCrory, Kayley Mae McCrory, Shelby Glenn Miller, and Liam Ezra McCrory. Brother Steve Porter of Zwolle, LA, and sister Susan Hasens of Houston. Tom is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Toms’ family relocated to Texas when he was a child, where Tom graduated from the Rio Grande City High School in 1970. Tom proudly joined the United States Air Force in November of 1970. The highlight of his military service was being stationed in Thailand for one year during the Vietnam War. Tom was Honorably discharged June 1974. After his military service, Tom moved his family to Bryan / College Station where Tom attended Texas A&M University. He Graduated in December 1977 with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Fisheries Science, Aquaculture Option. In August of 1978, Tom and family relocated to Trinity, Texas where Tom worked in Commercial fishing. In 1987, a new Era began when Tom opened Fisherman’s Pride in Trinity Texas. His legacy lives on in Fisherman’s Pride and in his son Shane, who now owns and operates the business. Once retired from Fisherman’s Pride, Tom continued to commercial fish until the end.

In addition to being an avid outdoorsman, hunter, and fisherman, Tom had a heart for the community that was now his home. He advocated for local veterans and was a founding member of the Trinity County Wall of Honor, an organization created to assist and support veterans. Tom also supported and initiated scholarships for Trinity County students and participated generously in benefits and fundraising for anyone in need. Tom was a member of Joe Werner Masonic Lodge.

The heart of service and compassion Tom felt for his community and friends began at home with his family. Tom loved his children and grandchildren fiercely. He was most proud of his boys whom he cherished. He showered them with pride, love, and admiration. His grandchildren were the light of his world. He most enjoyed watching them grow and flourish into the amazing people they are today. He often said his children are his legacy and his gift. Tom loved and adored his wife Kelly and was very proud of the daughters he gained with her.

Toms’ family invites you to a Celebration of Life in his honor on Feb 3rd, 2024 @ 1:00pm. The location of service: Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6899 @ 300 W Caroline St., Trinity Texas. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made in Toms’ honor to: Trinity County Wall of Honor, PO Box 2641, Trinity Texas 75862.
