Delbert George Massey, Jr. 

August 6, 1927 - December 31, 2023 

Devoted husband and loving father, Delbert George Massey, 96, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away December 31st, 2023, in the company of family.

Delbert was born on August 6, 1927, to Delbert and Mini Mae Massey, in Dallas Texas. He attended Woodrow Wilson Highschool graduating with the class of “45”. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He served as a First Class Petty Officer, Avionics Electronics Technician, from 1945 to 1947. After his military service he went on to graduate from Texas A & M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.

Major career positions included Software Systems Engineering Development for Texas Power and Light and Boeing / McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Companies with a notable contribution to mainframe computer systems development for the 1984 New Orleans World Fair.

Delbert’s pastimes, besides being a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan, included bowling, golf, coaching little league baseball, bingo and passionately supporting his daughters’ show horse competitions.

Delbert is survived by his three children, Philip Massey, Mary Stauffer and Sheila Ullrich, in addition to a large extended family including, 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Delbert is predeceased by his parents, Delbert Massey and Mini Mae Massey (nee Rogers); his sister, Pat Conway (nee Massey); his wife of 61 years (from 1951 to 2012), Mary Rosalie Massey (nee Hilsher); and daughter, Joanne Massey.

A funeral service will be held at Madisonville Funeral Home, 1511 E Main St., Madisonville, TX 77864, on Saturday January 6th, 2024, at 10:00 am.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
