Jennifer Grassman (58) of Friendswood, Texas, passed away on Friday, June 7th, 2024 following a long battle with cancer.
Jennifer was born at Dyess AFB hospital in Abilene, Texas, on April 2, 1966, to Michael and Marie Grassman. As part of an Air Force family, she attended school in Blytheville, Arkansas, Rome, New York, and Oscoda, Michigan and returned to Blytheville, Arkansas where she graduated from high school.
She received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1988. She spent the next 36 years working at NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas, working on the Space Shuttle (Emergency Abort Simulator), International Space Station (Station Flight Control Software), and most recently Orion (Communications) programs. While working in the Astronaut office she received the Silver Snoopy Award May 2002 for her dedication to crew safety for the ISS. Her work at NASA took her to Canada, Germany, and Japan along with many places in the US.
Jennifer loved to travel and spend time with family and friends. She had many talents including cooking, sewing, building things, and taking things apart. She was a certified SCUBA Diver and an avid boater. She was the keeper of family history and known for her doodles! She was a long-time supporter of Ronald McDonald House and active in local Cancer Awareness events. She has also walked the Mackinac Bridge seven times!
Jennifer was preceded in death by all of her grandparents and her aunt, Carol Carson. She is survived by her father, Michael Grassman, mother, Marie Grassman, brother, Matthew (wife Audrey) Grassman, sister, Jill (husband James) Delligatti, foreign exchange daughter, Hanne Muller in Germany, her nieces and nephews, Joshua and Hannah Grassman and Emily and Vincent Delligatti, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be on July 27, 2024. She will be missed.
