Dr. Randall D. "Randy" Walker

August 13, 1951 - December 16, 2023

With great sadness, we must announce the passing of our sweet and caring Dr. Randall D. Walker. He unexpectedly left this world on Dec. 16, 2023 at the age of 72. He is now pain free and in the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Randy began his life in Victoria, Texas as the first born to parents Rev. Jack and Patricia (Brantley) Walker. Then siblings Charlie, Sharon and Trudy followed. Later the family moved to Corpus Christi where he graduated from Miller High School in 1970. HEB was his first job and there he met his long time friend Don (Kay) Cover while also attending Texas A&I. There he received his BS Degree in 1975. He joined the CC Fire Dept as a firefighter and later became an EMT, working from 1973-77. Quickly he realized medicine was his calling and went on to Texas A&M University graduating in 1981 with a BS in medicine and a Doctor of Medicine in 1983.

He started his specialty family medicine with Dr. Purnell in Magnolia, TX and officially bought that practice in 1986 after completing the 3 year residency program through Baylor College of Medicine. He continued that practice until 2015 when he sold to St. Luke's and worked under their umbrella. Dr. Walker retired in 2020 after years of faithful service to the Magnolia community. You couldn't have asked for a more dedicated and caring physician to all of his patients.

He used many years of his vacation for mission trips to Mexico with First Baptist Church of Magnolia administering care for those less fortunate. He always enjoyed music, especially The Who, Beach Boys, The Eagles, and yes even Elvis. Occasionally you could find him playing his guitar, singing, and composing his own songs. He loved Gospel music and traveled to Tennessee the last 15 years for the Gospel Quartet Convention. Most of the time he was reading and updating himself on medical procedures and advancements. His life revolved around educating himself on medicine and care for his patients. He was especially proud and excellent at making a diagnosis from complicated symptoms and blood work.

His second passion was "food." He enjoyed cuisine of all kinds and watching the food channels on TV. And let's not forget his love for "fast cars" and racing his Grand AM! He took great pride in family and loved watching his son, Christopher, play baseball.

He is preceded in death by his dad Jackson Walker, sister Trudy Schutz, and brother-in-law Bob Tarbett.

Those left behind to celebrate his memory are mother Patricia, wife Rose, son Christopher, sister Sharon Tarbett, brother Charles (Sherry), brother-in law Keith Schutz, nieces: Lindsay (John) Long, Natalie (Todd) Frazier, Ashley Cross, Cheryl Flores, Michelle Zweiner, Nephews: Ryan (Lindsey) Cross, Brian Walker, Max Walker, and numerous in-laws, cousins, and great nephews and nieces, friends and co-workers.
