September 10, 1952 - April 13, 2024 

Debra D. "Debby" Rike and James C. "Jim" Rike, Jr., a remarkable couple deeply embedded in their community of Burke, Virginia leave a legacy of dedication, leadership, and service. Jim and Debby, both graduates of W.T. Woodson High School in Fairfax, VA, were married for almost 49 years and will rest together forever.

Debra D. "Debby" Rike, a devoted and highly respected nurse, passed away peacefully on April 2nd, 2024. James C. "Jim" Rike, Jr., a venerable figure in high school soccer, passed away peacefully on April 13th, 2024, leaving a lasting legacy in the world of sports and education. A Fort Hood, Texas native, he graduated from Texas A&M University in 1974 and earned his M.Ed. from George Mason University in 1976. Jim spent 33 years as a teacher, five years as a long-term substitute, and over 40 years coaching wrestling, football, and soccer. Coach Rike dedicated 35 years to coaching girls' soccer at James W. Robinson Secondary School.

Throughout his illustrious career at Robinson, Coach Rike amassed an impressive 530 win record, solidifying his position as one of the top public high school soccer coaches in Virginia. Under his tutelage, the Lady Rams secured eleven District titles, nine Regional titles, and five AAA State titles. Coach Rike's accolades were numerous, including two Washington Post All-Met Coach of the Year awards, the prestigious National Coach of the Year title from the National High School Athletic Coaches Association, and an induction into the VHSL/VHSCA's Hall of Fame. His teams' national recognition, multiple top rankings, and numerous team academic awards were a testament to his unwavering commitment to excellence both on the field and in academics.

Debby and Jim are survived by their son James P. “J.P.” (Erica) Rike of Arlington, VA. 

On Friday, May 17th, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM, a visitation will be held at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home in Fairfax, VA. A joint funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 18th at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Annandale, VA.
