Thomas Theodore Tibbles

May 6, 1950 - May 15, 2024

Thomas Theodore Tibbles, 74, passed away on May 15, 2024 after a brave battle with prostate cancer for 17 years. Tom passed peacefully in his home, surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren. He had a strong faith and started each morning reading daily devotions, spending regular quiet time with God and studying His Word.

Tom was born on May 6, 1950 in Hastings, Nebraska, son of the late, Walter and Rosemary Tibbles. Tom attended Texas A&M and Perdue Universities where he obtained a master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering and a master’s of Science. Tom retired from Ford Motor Company after achieving 10 patents in his 30 years of employment, followed by another 11 years with IAV in Northville.

Tom and Rose met in 1998 at Ward Presbyterian Church. Their love and devotion to one another led to a beautiful marriage of 24 years. One of Tom’s favorite things to do was go on picnics with Rose in Hines Park, where he packed a bottle of wine and Twinkie's for them to enjoy. He enjoyed having sleepover's with his grandchildren and making his famous popcorn that everyone loved, and vacationing in Florida every year with his family was something he always looked forward to.

Tom is survived by his wife, Rose Tibbles. His children, Zachary (Katie), Claire (Maxwell), Lindsay (Jeremy), Lauren (Chris), Ben, Anna (Matt). His sister, Debra (Phil), brother in law, Michael (Sue) and his grandchildren, Colton, Hunter, Audrey, Kade, Duke, Austin, Adeline, Vivienne, Roselyn, Jaxx and John.

Life is sweet but much too short. Never pass on an opportunity to share a laugh, give a hug or tell someone you love them.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 20 from 2:00PM-8:00PM with a prayer service at 7:00PM at Phillips Funeral Home, 122 West Lake Street, South Lyon. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 21 at 11:00AM at First Presbyterian Church of South Lyon, 205 East Lake Street. Following the funeral service, Tom will be laid to rest in Glen Eden Cemetery in Livonia. Guests are invited to join the family after the prayers at the cemetery at Senate Coney Island, in Northville, where Tom has met with his Bible Study group for over 30 years.
