William White Sr. '67 June 20, 2024 2:00 PM updated: June 20, 2024 2:21 PM

William Allen White, Sr.

January 1, 1945 - May 15, 2024

William Allen White, Sr. completed his ultimate journey on May 15, 2024, in Laredo, Texas. William was born to Hugh T. White, Jr. and Ruby Kathleen White on January 1, 1945, in Dallas, Texas. William was preceded in death by both his parents.

On October 1, 1965, William married the love of his life, Cheryl. Thereafter, William was a graduating member of the loudest and proudest Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of ‘67. While attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Science from Texas A&M University, William served as a member of the Aggie Corps of Cadets alongside his devoted older brother, Tim.

William’s favorite activities included hunting, fishing, sharp shooting, cooking and eating. These were skills he had mastered in his youth and continued to enjoy throughout his life. William was naturally creative and artistic. With little effort, he demonstrated tremendous talent for free hand drafting and painting. However, it was William’s unique personality that usually left a lasting impression on all those he encountered. He had a colorful way of expressing himself with words and gestures even in his final moments. It was widely known by his family and friends that William had an opinion about everything and was an expert on almost everything. Despite his age, William mastered texting unlike any other. His level of detail when ordering a meal or authoring a grocery list are unmatched. All jest aside, William had a very sharp wit but an even sharper mind.

William is survived by Cheryl Lee White (Wife), William Allen White, Jr. (Son), Alison White Haynes ‘92 (Daughter), Benjamin Scott White (Son), Richard E. Haynes II (Son in Law), Madison E. Haynes ‘21 and ‘22 (Granddaughter) and Richard E. Haynes III ‘24 (Grandson), Tim White ‘65 (Brother), Judy White (Sister in Law) and Virginia White Riley ‘75 (Sister).

The White Family is sincerely grateful and appreciative of the excellent medical care provided by Dr. Marissa Gonzalez, M.D., Dr. Pankaj Kapadia, M.D., as well as the entire Emergency Room Team and ICU Team at Doctor’s Hospital of Laredo. These medical professionals went above and beyond in all their efforts.

Family and friends will gather on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Drive, Laredo, Texas 78041 at 4:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will commence at 6:00 p.m.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to Bethany House Laredo.
