John Rodney Dosher

May 20, 1936 - May 14, 2024

John Rodney Dosher of Houston, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024. He was 87 years old.

John was born on May 20, 1936 to Dorothy and Rodney Dosher in Pampa, Texas. During his childhood, his family lived in Sunray, Texas. After John graduated from Dumas High School in 1954, he went on to study engineering at Texas A&M University.

After obtaining his college degree, John began his long career in the oil and gas industry by working at a refinery for the Shell oil company. He later worked as the Senior Vice President of PACE Consultants and as Senior Vice President of Strategic Consulting for KBC Advanced Technologies. He was flattered to have served as an expert witness in court cases and to have testified in his area of expertise before the U.S. Congress.

In 1963, John met Margaret (Pegi) Melcher in Houston. John and Pegi went on to have two children, Kathy and Andrew. John loved coaching the little league football team of his son, Andrew. He also loved playing golf, reading, and spending time with his family and friends. After he retired, he particularly enjoyed attending meetings with men’s groups and doing volunteer work—as a mentor for young students and as a Stephen Minister for prisoners.

John was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Pegi; daughter, Kathy; son, Andrew; daughter-in-law, Alison; grandson, Garrett; and granddaughters, Natalie and Jessica.

John’s family and friends will miss his unassuming ways, his sense of humor, and the West Texas accent he never left behind.

A service will be held to celebrate John’s life at St. John the Divine Church on Wednesday, May 29 at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to The Church of St. John the Divine. To make a donation, visit the church's Giving page, select Memorial Gifts in the Select a fund menu, and enter John Dosher’s name in the Memo field.
