Peter Charles "Pete" Cragg

August 24, 1951 - December 1, 2023

Peter Charles Cragg, age 72, passed on Friday December 1, 2023 in Lakeway, Texas. Memorial Services will be held on December 11th at noon in the Robb Chapel at The Woodlands Methodist Church, with a reception to follow at the church.

Pete was born on August 24, 1951 at Fort Monroe in Hampton, Virginia to Earnest and Helen Cragg. He was a graduate of Randolph Brooks High School and then remained in San Antonio to attend Trinity University where he received his undergraduate degree in Psychology. He went on to attend Texas A&M University, where he received his masters degree in Poultry Science and finally his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1977.

Dr. Cragg started his career as a poultry veterinarian before he began his private practice in The Woodlands, Texas. He tried to retire after 30 years, but he truly loved what he did, so he began working as a relief veterinarian for several area practices. He cared for peoples’ beloved pets in The Woodlands area for over 40 years.

Pete enjoyed many hobbies and passions over his lifetime. He enjoyed wildlife photography and falconry; he kept birds, snakes and reptiles along with his many dogs and cats through the years. He especially loved his dogs, his recliner, the weather channel, a good burger and the love of his life, Susan.

He joined the Scouts with his son Travis and passed down his love for the outdoors to him and many others. He served as Scoutmaster for Troop 889 and during this time, he got into kayaking, becoming a certified Red Cross Kayak Instructor.

After he retired, He and Susan spent a lot of time in the hill country where he kept bees and tended to the property. It was his favorite place in the world.

He was a Christian man and in his ‘retirement’ he spent many hours studying scripture, especially the old testament. He had a passion for dowsing and helping others up until his death.

Above all, he loved to learn and share his knowledge; he was a lifelong student and teacher sharing his knowledge and passions with his family and anyone who would listen.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Susan Cragg of The Woodlands; children Helen Frances Levantino and her husband Justin of Spring; Travis Cragg of Bellevue, WA; grandchildren Jacob, Nickolas and Austin Levantino.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in support of his love of rescue animals and organizations to Burttschell Rescue Ranch (burttschellrescueranch.com) and in honor of his love of wildlife rehabilitation and conservation to Last Chance Forever, Bird of Prey Conservancy (lastchanceforever.org)
