Burke Allen Bauerschlag 

November 29, 1946 - December 9, 2023 

Burke Allen Bauerschlag, 77, of Thorndale, Texas passed away on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at his home in Thorndale. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 17, 2023 at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

He was born on November 29, 1946 to Elmo and Vera (Beard) Bauerschlag in Taylor. On September 28, 1968, he married Evelyn Wellman in Brenham. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1969 with a degree in Poultry Science.

He was a deputy sheriff for Milam County. He then became the County Commissioner Pct. 4 for 16 years. He was a member at Connelly Community Church. He also belonged to the Masonic Lodge #978 and the Thorndale Vol. Fire Dept.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmo and Vera Bauerschlag; brother, Harry Bauerschlag; brother-in-law, Dick Jones; niece-in-law, Stephanie Bauerschlag; and parents-in-law, Raymond, Sr. and Cariie Wellmann.

Burke is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Evelyn Bauerschlag; son, Reid Bauerschlag and wife Elaine; sister, Diane Jones; grandchildren, Tori Bauerschlag, and Cooper Bauerschlag; great grandchildren, Parker Jean Easley, and Brody Dale Easley; dear friend, Justin Easley; brother-in-law, Raymond Wellman, Jr. and wife Rebecca; and numerous nieces and nephews.
