Morris Lynn Dagerath 

May 7, 1935 - June 15, 2024 

Morris Lynn Dagerath passed away on June 15, 2024. He was the son of Henry J. and Frances Kruger Dagerath. He was born in Coupland, Texas arriving on May 7, 1935, just in time for Mother’s Day.

Morris was a graduate of Taylor High School. He lettered four years in Varsity Football. He caught a calf in the Williamson County Rodeo calf scramble. He was awarded the Lone Star Farmer’s Degree.

After graduating from Taylor High School, Morris enrolled at Texas A&M University, graduating in 1957 with a degree in Vocational Agriculture and a Teaching Certificate. Morris was selected as the first of five applicants at Bynum Consolidated School District. Later he was inducted into the U.S. Army completing Basic Training at Fort Carson, Colorado and then was sent to U.S. Army Intelligence School at Fort Holabird, Maryland to serve in the U.S. 4th Army Headquarters, San Antonio, Texas.

Morris was employed by Jefferson Pharmaceutical Company until 1972 when he joined the American National Insurance Company in Galveston, where he retired in 2000.

His survivors include sister, Virginia (Gin) Callanan; sons, Morris Dagerath, Jr., Michael Dagerath and wife, Jennie and Sam Caminade and wife, Giovanina; daughters, Lacy Dagerath Pena and husband, Scott and Brenda Dalton and husband, John and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Morris was a member of Highlands Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, a Teacher, and a member of the choir. His most rewarding service was as Royal Ambassadors Director working with the young men and as Leader of the Nursing Home Ministry.

Morris also served as President of La Marque Rotary and President of Gideons, Mainland Chapter.

In his honor, there will be a visitation on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 10:00am, also at Crowder Funeral Home. Interment will be at 3:00pm at Coupland Cemetery in Coupland, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Morris’ name be made to The Gideons Galveston Mainland Camp A42120, PO BOX 84, La Marque, TX 77568.
