Carl Edward Coppock 

December 1, 1932 - September 22, 2023 

Carl E. Coppock passed into his heavenly home peacefully after a short hospital stay, at the age of 90.

Carl was born in Dayton, Ohio into the loving family of parents Maynard and Anna Coppock with two brothers and four sisters They shared a love of hymn singing. Carl played the piano and sang in choirs throughout his life. He grew up on a farm and enjoyed working with the cows.

He met his wife Marjorie Louise (Hare) at a training session for Brethren Volunteer Service in 1956. Carl then spent two years in Laos as an agricultural consultant with International Voluntary Service. He married Marjorie in 1959. Carl was the proud and caring father of their three children who were born in the 1960's, Mark, Daniel and Lynne Susanne.

Carl majored in Dairy Science obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree from Ohio State University, a Master's of Science degree from Texas A&M University, and a PhD degree from the University of Maryland. During his career, Carl was a professor and researcher of Diary Science and Nutrition at Cornell University and Texas A&M University.

After his retirement, Marjorie took a university teaching position in Laredo where they spent seven enjoyable years. They retired to San Antonio, Texas.

Carl regularly volunteered in the community, constructing carts for paraplegics with Mobility Worldwide, working with Christian Assistance Ministry, and playing the piano weekly for hymns at Heartland Health Center.

Music, family, a love of God, motorcycling, and service to others were the joys of his life.

He is survived by his wife Marjorie, his daughter Lynne Susanne, his son Mark and wife Nancy, his son Daniel and wife Annie, and grandchildren Cameron, Jenna and Trevor.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 18, 2023 at 10:00am at Coker Methodist Church, 231 E. North Loop Rd. San Antonio.

In lieu of flowers , donations in his memory may be made to Mobility Worldwide, Christian Assistance Ministry, or a charity of choice.
