Jimmie Van Goodman 

February 2, 1936 - November 30, 2023 

Jimmie Van Goodman, age 87, of Sandia, Texas, passed away on November 30, 2023. He was born in Houston, Texas on February 2, 1936, to James Edwin and Emma Lee Goodman.

Jimmie married his high school sweetheart, Carol Burmaster Goodman, on January 25, 1958, in League City, Texas.

Jimmie graduated from Webster High School in 1954 and went on to attend Texas A&M University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in 1958. He had a successful career as an insurance salesman for 30 years with Allstate. He retired from Allstate in 1996 and became a full-time rancher and grandfather. He dedicated the next 10 years as a Board Member to Shriners Galveston Burn Hospital.

Throughout Jimmie’s life, he was extremely active with the Boy Scouts of America, Red Cross, Volunteer Firefighter, Masonic philanthropy, the Al Amin Shrine temple, as well as the United Methodist church.

Jimmie was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Goodman; son, Jeffery Clark Goodman; his parents, James Edwin Goodman (Leticia Goodman) and Emma Lee Goodman; as well as his lifelong, loving wife of 61 years, Carol Burmaster Goodman.

Jimmie is survived by his brother, Frank E Goodman (Teri); son, Kerry Carlton Goodman (Simone); daughter, Julie Carol Teat (Jared); and daughter-in-law, Joyce Fairy Goodman. His prized grandchildren are Kay Goodman Diaz (Josh), Grace Goodman, Julia-Anne Teat, Jared Riley Teat, Sophie Ella Goodman, Jacquelin Reagan Teat, and Evie Elise Goodman.

Jimmie will be deeply missed.

A public visitation for Jimmie will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. A funeral service will occur Thursday, December 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415. An interment will follow at 11:00 AM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
