Regina Eloise Munson 

October 27, 1954 - June 7, 2024 

Born in Denison, Texas on October 27, 1954, to Martha de Golian Munson and W. B. Munson, III, Regina grew up with her five brothers and sister and her parents in Denison where she attended high school. She graduated from Texas A&M University where she received her B.A. in 1992 and from there went on to Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1995.

Regina lived with her husband Leighton Detora in Stowe, Vermont for 23 years where she practiced veterinary medicine in the local animal hospitals. She specialized in small animal care including end-of-life care, acupuncture, cytology, and euthanasia applications. She was loved by her clients and patients for her gentle communications, offering comfort and compassion whenever necessary. Regina was a great vet and loved her work. After renewing her Texas Veterinary license, she was looking forward to creating new clients and patients in Dallas.

Regina returned to Dallas in December 2022, where she enjoyed being close to her family once again and renewing old friendships. Everyone was drawn to Regina’s kindness, her gentleness, and her thoughtfulness towards everyone that she met. She was beautiful, timeless and a joy to family, friends, and acquaintances. Her loyalty to those she loved was beyond compare.

Regina is survived by her brothers: Ben Munson, IV and wife Susie, John de Golian Munson, Peter Kerr Munson and wife Kathy, Richard Carr Munson and wife Mia, Felix Thomas Munson and wife Lori and her sister Mary Martha Black and husband, Mark Walters. She loved being close to her 15 nieces and nephews in Texas, 13 cousins in Atlanta, GA and 4 other cousins in Ohio and Oregon.

We unexpectedly lost a very special friend and treasured family member on June 7, 2024. She was a loving and caring soul and will be missed by all.

Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Denison on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:00 am followed by her burial at Fairview Cemetery. There will be a visitation from 5-6:30 p.m. and the rosary will be recited from 6:30- 7p.m. Friday evening at Fisher Funeral Home at 604 W. Main St. in Denison.

The pallbearers will be her nephews: William Holland Munson, Michael Carr Munson, Peter Kerr Munson, Jr., Brian Cook Munson, Christopher Scott Munson, John Munson, II, Benjamin Badgett Munson, Felix Thomas Munson, Jr., Travis McComb Munson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Patrick Catholic Church.
