Charles William "Charlie" Warren, Jr. 

July 28, 1940 - June 1, 2024 

Charles (Charlie) W. Warren, Jr., aged 83, passed away peacefully from natural causes on June 1, 2024, at his home, surrounded by loved ones.

Charlie was born on July 28, 1940, in Galveston, Texas, to Charles Warren and Gladys Feder. He grew up in La Marque, TX, where he participated in Future Farmers of America, raising Hereford and Angus steers, along with numerous chickens and pets.

After graduating from La Marque High School in 1958, he attended Texas A&M University as a member of the Corps of Cadets, graduating with the Class of 1962 with a degree in Dairy Science. He began working for IBM in 1967, and retired after 38 years of service in 2005.

Charlie and his beloved wife Jackie shared a wonderful life together, residing in Houston for most of their married life before settling in Waco in 2018. They enjoyed 39 years of marriage, with Jackie by his side until the very end. Over the years, they enjoyed many pets, but his greatest companion was his Sheltie, Jake, who was always by his side.

Charlie was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He was passionate about Aggie sports, grilling and smoking a variety of meats, and reading historical books about the Civil War, presidents, and places he had lived, including Galveston and central Texas. He also enjoyed photography, collecting electric trains and illuminated village pieces, and traveling around the country.

Charlie was a source of warmth and kindness, whose good-natured personality touched everyone he met. His love for his family was unparalleled, and he cherished every moment spent with them, especially during the holidays when he took great pride in decorating the Christmas tree. Charlie treasured family gatherings, where laughter, stories, and traditions were shared. His dedication to his family and his deep, abiding faith in God were central to his life, providing a source of strength as he battled through his final years. Charlie’s legacy of compassion, love for family, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

Charlie is survived by his wife, Jackie Warren; his daughters, Debra Parmer (Jerry) and Cheryl Barrett (Steve); his son, Charles W. Warren, III (Teresa); and his step-daughter, Holly Blackwell (Tom). He is also survived by his grandchildren, Chris Winfrey (Elizabeth), Nick Winfrey (Jackie), Doug Winfrey (Amanda), Renee Harper (Danny), Patrick Mize, Stephanie Cowan (Jason), Christa Miranda (Duncan), and step-grandson, Cade Blackwell; and 12 great-grandchildren. Additionally, Charlie is survived by his sister, Ann Taylor, as well as many nephews, cousins, and friends.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Warren and Gladys Feder.

A memorial service will be held later this summer on July 27th at 1pm at Grace Gardens Funeral Home & Crematorium in Waco, TX.
