Philip Adam Keitel, Jr. 

November 22, 1937 - June 11, 2024 

Philip Adam Keitel, Jr., or Jack Keitel, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on June 11, 2024 at his home in Montgomery, Texas. He was 86 years old.

Philip was born on November 22, 1937, in Brazoria, Texas. His father’s name was Philip Adam Keitel and mother’s name was Beulah Janet Hutchins Keitel. He was married to Catherine Ann Keitel for 66 years. Philip and Catherine have two children, Julie Lynn English and Kristi Ann Keitel. They have seven grandchildren - Brandon Cooper, Kristin Sharp, Brock Cooper, Christopher English, Brittany Tower, Bridgett Rayner, and Michael English. They have thirteen great grandchildren.

Philip graduated from Texas A&M University in 1960. He was a member of the Corp of Cadets and received a degree in accounting. Philip began his career as an accountant at Pan American Oil Company in Houston Texas. In 1961, he began his career as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He retired from the IRS after 30 years of service. Philip received his Certified Public Accounting Certification in 1987 and worked as a consultant for various businesses after he retired. Philip was an active member of the Methodist Church in Brazoria, Texas, the Timber Lakes Presbyterian Church in Spring, Texas, and the First Methodist Church in Conroe, Texas where he was in charge of the Tuesday Morning Men’s Breakfast.

After graduating from college in 1960, Philip and Catherine moved to Spring Branch, Texas where they lived for four years. In 1965, they moved to Timber Lakes in Spring, Texas with their two children Julie and Kristi. Philip, help establish the Timber Lakes Civic Club and the Timber Lakes Volunteer Fire Department. In 1972, the family moved to Oak Ridge where he was a founding member of the Timber Ridge Presbyterian Church. They lived there until 1985, when they moved to Brazoria, Texas. They moved back to Conroe, Texas in 1994, to live closer to their children and grandchildren.

Philip had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed being an Eagle Scout, a member of the Texas A & M Former Student Association, building, woodworking, gardening, cooking, technology, traveling, swimming, holding several offices in his church, the Lions Club and the Chamber of Commerce.

Friends are invited to visit with the family at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at First Methodist Church in Brazoria, 409 Lazy Ln, Brazoria, TX 77422. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM. Graveside and burial will follow in Brazoria Cemetery.
