Jan Elizabeth (Johnson) Scott

February 11, 1953 - June 10, 2024

Jan Elizabeth Johnson Scott passed on to her next adventure on Monday, June 10, 2024, in The Woodlands, Texas, while holding the hands of her two daughters, Jennifer and Jaime, and her husband, Craig.

Jan lived a full life. Born in Houston, Texas, on February 11, 1953, to Joycelyn Rose Meyer Owen and Thomas Wharton Johnson, Jan spent most of her days on land in the Houston area. Jan is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University - Class of 1975 - where she met the love of her life, Craig Joseph Scott, who she married in September of 1975. They have two daughters, Jennifer Lauren and Jaime Lynn, who they raised in Kingwood, Texas, and in whom Jan instilled her fierce sense of loyalty and deep desire for adventure.

A lover of horses and travel, she owned a successful travel company for years before retiring to become Admiral Jan and set sail alongside her husband, Captain Craig, on their sailboats Lone Star and Seabbatical to shores as close as Clear Lake, Texas, and as far as the Caribbean Islands, the European Mediterranean, Turkey, and Croatia. Jan spent her final years between The Woodlands, Texas, where she and Craig had a strong community of friends, and Asheville, North Carolina, with her 6 year old granddaughter, Matilda Rose, and her family.

Jan is survived by her husband Craig, their two daughters, Jennifer Scott and Jaime McDowell; son-in-law, Sky McDowell; granddaughter, Matilda Rose McDowell; and brother, Tom Johnson of San Antonio, Texas, his wife, Nancy; and their sons Ryan and Reid.

Jan will be, and is already, deeply missed. A celebration of Jan's life will be held in the future in College Station, Texas, where she will be interred in a columbarium at the Aggie Field of Honor Memorial Cemetery. Details will be provided by the family at a later time. In lieu of flowers please send a donation in Jan's honor to the Neuroendocrine Tumor Research Foundation at https://netrf.org/2023-annual-report-empowering-progress-campaign/
