Nancy Sims Meehan 

July 9, 1957 - June 14, 2024 

Nancy Meehan unexpectedly passed away on Friday June 14, 2024 at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio, Texas. Nancy was born in Orange, California on July 9, 1957 to Major Charles Sims, Jr. (USMC) and Alys Kathryn Sims. Nancy grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and graduated from Mary Carroll High School in 1976 where she ran track and cross country, setting numerous area records. Nancy competed at the Texas UIL Track & Field State Meet in Austin in 1976. She was a Texas A&M University Class of 1980 graduate with a Bachelors of Business degree in Marketing and she loved everything Aggie her entire life. Her father was A&M Class of 1944 and son John, Jr. is an A&M graduate, Class of 2006.

Nancy was recruited by Joske’s Department Stores and completed its Executive Training Program in 1981; she was thereupon assigned to Joske’s Cielo Vista Mall in El Paso as Manager of Ladies Accessories, Jewelry and Handbags.

Nancy and John Anthony Meehan were married on February 20th, 1982 at Corpus Christi Naval Air Station, making their residence in San Antonio. Their first son, John Anthony Meehan, Jr., was born in San Antonio in September 1983. Charles Daniel Meehan was born in El Paso in April 1988. After numerous relocations the family finally made it back home to San Antonio in 1998, where Nancy became very active at Parkhills Baptist Church. Nancy’s career was interrupted many times due to her husband’s career requirements, but for 8 years she was the West Texas and Southern New Mexico Territorial Sales Representative for Hanes Hosiery and she later became a pharmaceutical sales representative, encompassing a territory from San Antonio to the Border area.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Kathryn Sims.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 42 years, John, Sr., and by their son John, Jr. (Major, U.S. Army Reserve) and his wife Shelby and their three sons John Wyatt Meehan, Connor Barret Meehan, and Henry Walker Meehan, and by Nancy and John’s younger son, Charles and his wife Nicole. Nancy’s brothers are Charles N. Sims, III, married to Sue, of Tennessee, and David Sims, married to Terry, of Cibolo, TX. Her nephews are Eric Sims, Joshua Sims, and Michael Sims and her niece is Margret Sims Martin (LTC, U.S. Air Force). Surviving cousins are Jack Hales and family of New Braunfels, Kay Thomas and Annette Sharp of Texarkana, Joe Thomas of Marietta, Georgia, and Fran Tucker of Oklahoma City.
