Paul Gregory Schleider 

April 26, 1960 - June 21, 2024 

Paul Gregory Schleider was born to Herbert Schleider and Bernice (Gregory) Schleider in Bryan, TX on April 26, 1960. He passed away unexpectedly at home in Bryan at the age of 64 years on Friday, June 21, 2024.

Paul graduated from Bryan ISD in 1978 and then he attended Texas A&M University and received a master’s in electrical engineering. Paul was also a member of the Aggie Band and Corps of Cadets. Paul married Lyla Sawyer in Nevada on October 10, 2003.

He went to work for the USDA on July 11, 1983. During his 41 years he became head of the IT department. Paul was a member of the Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in College Station and attended Harmony Baptist Church in Caldwell. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, Brazos Valley Friends of NRA, CCA and Earl Graham American Legion. Paul worked with Shooting Sports teaching safe shooting.

Paul was a lifelong resident of Bryan. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, H.E. (Skip) Schleider, Jr.

Paul is survived by: Wife, Lyla Schleider of Bryan, Daughter, Ashley Gage of San Saba, Son, William Bates and wife Peggy, Granddaughter, Jewelia “Jewels” Gentry;  Cousins, Janie and RJ “Tiny” Mehrens, Barbara Doleshal, Sedonia Powell, Carrie and Roger Gaskamp, William “Billy” and Karen Holle, Margie and Tom McConnell, Ronnie and Debie Fathauer and Marcie and Roger Phipps.

A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
