Larry Alan Riemenschneider 

October 14, 1947 - June 20, 2024 

Larry Alan Riemenschneider, 76, of Veribest, Texas was called from his earthly home to his heavenly home on Thursday, June 20, 2024.

Larry was born October 14, 1947, in Wall, Texas to Georgia (Holik) and Adolph Riemenschneider. The family moved to Veribest when Larry was five years old where he farmed, taught, led, and lived his life. He also spent time with cousins on both sides of the family during reunions, get-togethers, and various family functions.

Larry attended Veribest Elementary School, San Angelo Central High School, Angelo State University, and Texas A&M University where he received a B.S. in Agriculture Education.

Larry taught Vocational Agriculture for two years at Navasota High School in Navasota, Texas. He then returned to Veribest where he farmed with his dad.

During the time he was farming, Veribest ISD decided to start a high school, and he was asked to start a Vocational Agriculture program. Larry was instrumental in chartering the Veribest FFA Chapter. After three years of teaching, he went back to full-time farming.

Larry was very active in the Veribest community. He served on the Veribest School Board, Tom Green County Irrigation District, and Tom Green County Farm Bureau board. Larry received the Tom Green County Soil Conversation Award in 1996.

Larry married Jo Ellen Tomerassen in 1974. Together they raised three children, Jimmy, Krista, and Angela - and was blessed with seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Larry was born and raised in the Wall Brethren Church, where he was active in the youth group, served on the Board of Elders, and sang in the choir. Larry loved the Lord and saw the many awesome things that He had created which were reflected in his love for farming, hunting, fishing, and avocational archaeology.

Due to his interest in archeology, Larry became a member of the Concho Valley Archaeological Society where he served as president and director for many years. Larry was nominated by the Texas Historical Commission to be the Regional Steward for the Concho Valley. Many of his articles were published in archaeological journals, and he received numerous awards for his accomplishments.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, father- and mother-in-law Tommy and Phillis (Lendborg) Tomerassen, and nephew, Nicholas Turner. Larry is survived by his wife, Jo, of Veribest; son Jimmy and his wife Becky Riemenschneider of Poetry, TX; daughter Krista Roberts and Frank Castillo of Canyon; daughter Angela and husband Daniel Farris of Bethany, OK. Grandsons James Riemenschneider of Poetry, TX, and Anthony Farris of Bethany, OK. Granddaughters Claire Roberts of Austin, TX., Amanda and husband Isaac Rosales of Amarillo, TX, Sarah Roberts of Canyon, TX, Amelia and Daphne Farris of Bethany, OK. One great-grandchild, Andrea Blaire Rosales of Amarillo, TX. Sister Donna and husband John Krupala of Mansfield, TX. Niece Laura and husband Craig Caldwell and daughter, Marlee, of Mansfield, TX. Sister-in-law Trudy Tommeraasen of Austin, TX.

Larry's family will be present for a time of visitation at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo from 3-5 pm, Sunday, June 24. Graveside service will begin at 10:30 am at Mullins Cemetery Monday, June 25, 2024. Pallbearers are his grandchildren: James Riemenschneider, Claire Roberts, Amanda Rosales, Anthony Farris, Amelia Farris, Daphne Farris, Sarah Roberts, and Isaac Rosales.
