Lynwood Mason "Woody" Rabon, Jr. 

March 28, 1946 - June 19, 2024 

Lynwood Mason "Woody" Rabon, Jr., 78, of Stafford, VA, passed away on June 19, 2024, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, NC.

Born on March 28, 1946, in Columbia, SC, to the late Mary and Lynwood Rabon, Sr., Woody pursued a distinguished education in mechanical engineering, earning his undergraduate degree from the University of South Carolina and his master's degree from Texas A&M University. He made significant contributions to the Apollo space missions by working on the rocket boosters. Woody also had a remarkable career as a Department of the Army Civilian, where he engineered critical equipment for the U.S. Army, earning him recognition as a Distinguished Army Civilian.

Woody is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pamela Rabon; three children, Mary Gwinn and her husband, Larry, along with their daughter, Elizabeth; Lynwood Rabon, III and his wife, Heather, and their three sons, Nate, Gavin, and Dylan; Rosie Ross and her husband, Jon, and their beloved grand-dogs, Murphy and Lillie. He is also survived by his brother, Gene Rabon, and two sisters, Karen Carter and Mary Kay Rowell.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Beulah Methodist Church in Gilbert, SC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
