Jonathan William Stanush

April 22, 1996 - June 15, 2024

Jonathan William Stanush, age 28, of Dilley, TX, unexpectedly passed away in a tragic farming accident on Saturday, June 15, 2024; he was on his way home doing what he loved for the ones he loved the most.

Jonathan was born April 22, 1996, to Harold & Margaret Stanush, where he spent all his childhood in La Vernia, Texas farming with his father, older brother Benjamin, and Uncle Frank, developing a deep love and respect for working the land. A lifelong and faithful Catholic, Jonathan was an active member of Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in St. Hedwig where he served as an altar boy from 3rd grade until his senior year. After graduating in the top 10 of his class from La Vernia High School in 2014, he was accepted to Texas A&M University, where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Agronomy in 2017. Jonathan worked with Crop Quest for 6 years as a farming consultant and it was during this time that he met the love of his life, Monica Mire, of Dripping Springs, Texas, whom he married on September 24, 2022.

Jonathan worked faithfully to provide a full life for his beautiful family and earlier this year he had an opportunity to work his dream job for Mimosa Farms and had also begun a small farming operation on the side that he was incredibly proud of. Though there are no words to express the depth of sorrow that Jonathan’s passing leaves in the lives of many, his memory will be carried on not only through the stories of his good works, good nature, and tell it like it was way of speech, but it will live on in his 4-month-old daughter, Lillian, who was truly his pride and joy.

Jonathan is survived by his wife Monica, daughter Lilly, parents Harold and Margaret (Eunice) Stanush of La Vernia, brother Benjamin (Megan) and nephew/Godson Wesley Stanush of New Braunfels, grandmother Lucille Stanush of La Vernia, as well as many in-laws, ten additional nieces and nephews, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, countless friends, and faithful dog, Hogan. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Joseph Stanush and Larry and Nannette Eunice.

A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 5:30 PM ~ 8:00 PM at Finch Funeral Chapel in La Vernia. A Rosary will be recited this same evening beginning at 7:00 PM.

The funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 26, 2024, at The Annunciation of the BVM Catholic Church in St. Hedwig. Burial will follow in The Annunciation of the BVM Catholic Cemetery behind the church. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a charity of your choice in Jonathan’s honor, or the fund that has been set up for Lilly’s college.
