James Edward "Jim" Linden

October 9, 1953 - July 2, 2024

Jim Linden, passed away on July 2, 2024, at his home in Denton, Texas. He was born in Fort Belvoir, Virginia, on October 9, 1953, to James Edward and Mary Jacqueline Linden.

Jim's early life was shaped by his father's career in the military, leading the family to spend three years in Germany before settling in Texas. It was in Junior High School that Jim discovered his passion for construction. He pursued this interest at Texas A&M University, where he graduated with a degree in Building Construction in 1976 and remained a loyal and avid Aggie fan his entire life.

Jim's career in construction spanned over 45 years, during which he saw and participated in all facets of the industry. He always liked to say, “he progressed from building structures to building teams, then companies, and finally, to helping and nurturing his people.” Jim’s career milestones included significant roles at Motorola, DPR Construction, and after a joint venture with Hillwood, Jim was convinced by Ross Perot, Jr. to join Hillwood to found Hillwood’s Construction Services division, growing that business from a small team to a leading firm with substantial annual volumes.

A leader, mentor, and friend, Jim was known for his integrity, humility, and commitment to excellence. He instilled the value of "always doing the right thing" as a cornerstone of Hillwood Construction Services’ culture. Last year, Ross and Sarah Perot endowed a scholarship in Jim’s name at Texas A&M for students pursuing degrees in construction science, a testament to his lasting legacy.

Jim was a man of faith, a devoted family man, and a member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas. He believed that his primary job in life was caring for his family and raising his children.

Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Pat Linden of Denton, Texas; his daughter, Catherine Linden of Fort Worth; his son, Phillip Linden, and his wife, Gabrielle of Flower Mound, Texas; and his sister, Karen Linden and Judy Glazner of Belton, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Vicki Linden.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation, ensuring that Jim’s legacy continues to serve others through their mission.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at St. Mark Catholic Church in Argyle, Texas, at 10:00 AM. Following the service, a private interment ceremony for the family will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton, Texas.

Jim Linden's legacy will endure through the countless lives he touched. While his presence will be deeply missed, his vision and values will continue to guide those who knew him for many years to come.
