September 4, 1934 - June 19, 2024

Michael Kilpatrick Fisher passed away peacefully after a long illness on June 19, 2024 surrounded by his family. He lived a full and passionate life as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was born on September 4, 1934 to his parents, the late Helen Kilpatrick Fisher and Robert Burns Fisher, Sr. in Saint Francisville, Louisiana. He attended Metairie Park Country Day School and was graduated from LSU with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Texas A&M University where he received a Master's degree in Entomology. He served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy on the destroyer, Wren, during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He enjoyed a long career in agricultural chemicals with the Monsanto company and with several other firms. Mike was an avid reader and storyteller and was especially knowledgeable in the history of the Civil War and World War II. He and his wife, Gladys, loved to travel the world together.

He was the beloved husband of Gladys King Fisher for 30 wonderful years; brother of Lawrason Douglas Fisher and the late Robert Burns Fisher, Jr. (Lisa); uncle of Robert Burns Fisher, III; father of the late Ann Cabot Fisher and Carolyn Stewart Fisher; grandfather of Catherine Boushall Gassiot; stepfather of Edward George King, III (Nancy), the late Elizabeth Williams Kohlmann, and Wilfred Hamilton Williams, III, MD (Marion); step-grandfather of Bradley Charles King, Grace Elisabeth Friedman, Emily Holland Williams, and Paige Hamilton Williams. He dearly loved all his children and grandchildren and was immensely proud of their accomplishments.

He was a member of the Thackeray Society, was King of Alexis Ball in 2010, and was a member of Metairie Country Club where he loved to have dinner with his friends and family. He was a member of Christ Church Cathedral. The family would like to thank Betty Sanders, Irethea Gilyard, and Allen Fogarty for their years of care and support.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to The Parkinson's Foundation (https://www.parkinson.org/) or to Christ Church Cathedral (https://cccnola.org/). Burial will be private with a reception for immediate family only.
