July 23, 1928 - July 14, 2024
Dewitt J. Wichmann, 95, of April Sound died Sunday July 14, 2024. He was born July 23, 1928 in Telluride, Colorado. He is preceded in death by Elizabeth Ann Rynd Wichmann, his loving wife of 38 years and the mother of their 4 children. Also, by his mother and father Dorothy and Lothar Wichmann, and his brothers Paul and Lothar and sister Barbara.
He is survived by his wife Georgia, his daughter Kay Corporron, her husband Randy, their children Kristin and Craig Carlson, Ryan and Sabrina Corporron, his son Eric Wichmann, his wife Pamela Curran Wichmann, their sons, Travis and Justin, his son Stephen Wichmann, his wife Susan Ritter Wichmann, their children, Andrew and Allison Wichmann, Megan and Bradford, and his daughter Carolyn Bellis, her husband Angelo and their children Nicholas and Cara Townsell. Also surviving are two sisters Dorothy Maas of Lodi, CA and Sue McCullough of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, his sisters-in-law Marge Wichmann of the Woodlands and Kitty Inman of Houston. Also left to treasure his memory are Georgia’s daughters Christie Valois and Stacie Smith and numerous nieces and nephews and great grandchildren, Annie Carlson, Chloe and Madelyn Corporron, Reagan and McKinley Wichmann, Cooper and Oliver Townsell.
Dewitt graduated from Texas A&M University in January 1952, was awarded a commission in the US Air Force at that time and then spent the next 20 years in the service of his country and retired a Lt. Colonel in August 1972.
A visitation for Dewitt will be held Monday, July 22, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Metcalf Funeral Directors, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe with a rosary at 6:00 PM. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at 10:30 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 109 North Frazier Street, Conroe, Texas 77301. Private family Interment will be at Houston National Cemetery.
