Frank Henry Markey, II

April 28, 1943 - July 26, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frank Markey, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend. He passed away Friday, July 26th surrounded by loved ones after a 7-year battle with Pulmonary Fibrosis.

Frank Henry Markey, II was born April 28th, 1943, in Henderson, Texas to Frank and Vernie Markey and was the youngest to three older sisters, Norma, Barbara, and Maureen. Growing up in East Texas, he could be found spending his days fishing, hunting, and stirring up trouble with his childhood friends.

He went on to graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University and was a proud Aggie and member of the Cadet Corps in the Air Force division, Squadron (Trojan) 12. He was also a member of the Town Hall Committee which was responsible for bringing the top music and cultural entertainment to the A&M community.

He was a hard worker and self-made man who found great success in the oil and gas and real estate industries. He had a sharp mind and was incredibly skilled at building and fostering relationships. But his biggest accomplishment was his family. He took great pride in being a husband, father, and grandfather.

Frank was a man of immense generosity, always ready to lend a hand or share a laugh. He had an unparalleled gift for storytelling and could always be counted on to bring a smile to your face. His social nature and light-hearted spirit touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a lover of music, a good scotch, and falling asleep to an old western on TV.

Frank is survived by his beloved wife, Shelly, children Austin and Jillian, their spouses Taylor and Blaine, two granddaughters, Isla and Emma, his sister Maureen, and many nieces and nephews. His compassionate nature and joyful presence will be dearly missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will continue to live with us and inspire all.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, August 24th from 4-6 pm at the Markey Residence. Memorial contributions can be made to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation in honor of Frank Markey.
