Patricia B. "Pat" Swigert

August 28, 1947 - July 20, 2024

Patricia Bell Rogers Swigert, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed away at home on July 20, 2024, in Caldwell, Texas. She was born on August 28, 1947, in Houston, Texas to Orville and Evelyn Rogers.

Pat graduated from John H. Reagan High School (Houston) in 1965. She continued her education at Sam Houston State University graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology in 1970. Upon graduation, Pat married her college sweetheart, Jim Swigert on July 25, 1970, in Houston. Over the next decade, Pat and Jim lived throughout central Texas, eventually settling in the Brazos Valley. In 1992, Pat earned her Masters of Science degree in Educational Administration from Texas A&M University, allowing her to receive her much desired degree from Texas A&M and to get her Aggie Ring she wore proudly. While living in College Station, Pat worked at Texas A&M University as a Graduate Student Advisor for several departments including Education, Architecture, Oceanography and Biochemistry/Biophysics where she retired from in 2014. Pat was also the proud clerk for Swico Auctions, the family auction business.

Pat was actively involved in church from the day she was born and loved Jesus with all her heart. She and Jim were members of First Baptist Church of College Station where they were College Sunday School teachers and Directors. Pat loved her Aggies. She always had an open door and food on her table for any Aggie or friend that needed a meal and a home away from home. After locating to Caldwell, Pat and Jim were active members and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church of Caldwell. Several years later, God led them to be founding members of a new church in Caldwell and quickly opened their hearts to the Burleson County Cowboy Church. Pat was involved with the Chuck Wagon Team and later the Greeting Team at the church where she thoroughly enjoyed serving.

Pat loved her family and treasured every minute she spent with her kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews. She could always be found cooking meals, cheering on her family, baby sitting, and she loved square dancing with Jim. She always wanted as many of her family around her as she could get. It was not uncommon for holidays to include 40 plus people. She did everything with a smile and was eager to help in any way. Pat will be remembered for her welcoming spirit, friendly smile, hospitality to all and her unwavering faith in God. She touched many lives and will be truly missed by all.

She is survived by her husband Jim Swigert, her children Scott Swigert (Jennifer), Tami Scott (Bentley), and Lance Swigert. Her grandchildren Kaleb, Jayden, and Kayden Swigert; Spencer and Annabelle Scott; and Addyson Swigert. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Carol Winburn (Horace); nieces and nephews Donnie Rollins (Becky), Terry Rollins, Gail Palmer, Sybil Popham (Colton), Kristy Crabtree (Michael) and Rebecca Winburn as well as many cousins, great nieces and nephews, all whom she loved dearly. Pat is preceded in death by her mother, father, sisters Loretta Rollins and Marlene Palmer, and a nephew Greg Rollins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 24th from 7PM to 8PM. A memorial service to celebrate Pat's life will be held Thursday, July 25th at 11:00 AM. Both will be located at Burleson County Cowboy Church, 300 CR 169, Caldwell, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Burleson County Cowboy Church Building Fund.
