Our hearts are heavy, and our eyes are filled with tears but we look back over the life of our beloved Sean Preston Johnson with love, joy, happiness, and much celebration of a life well lived! Sean was born in Torrance, Calif., on December 22, 1989, to Preston Johnson, Jr. of Jewett, Texas, and Joslen Brown Johnson of Needville, Texas. He was quite proud of being a California native. Sean was the first of two children born of this union. He was smart, active, inquisitive, and insightful, always looking for challenge, adventure, and fun. Sean loved people very much like his dad. He never met a stranger. Everyone was an instant friend to him.
Sean always wanted a baby sister. We as parents were blessed and relieved to learn the new baby was a girl. Our Prayers were answered. Sean was the most devoted and caring big brother who never let Alexis out of his sight. In fact, he spoke for her to the age of four. We often wondered if our daughter would ever speak since she had no reason to speak her own words because Sean knew everything she needed and spoke up for her.
Sean accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He attended preschool and elementary school in Midland, Mich. Later we moved to Houston and Sugar Land, Texas, where he attended Sartartia Middle School and Stephen F. Austin High School where he made many lifelong friends including Alec Palmer, Anthony Cromartie, Daryoush Behbood, Bradley Ward, Shram Shukla, and Max Wang to name a few. Sean played Varsity basketball at Austin and also participated in the AAU Varsity Basketball League. Sean loved reading, all sports, strategy games, analytics, and movies. He was kind, thoughtful, sincere, devoted to his family and friends. He was known to many as "The Gentle Giant."
Sean attended Texas A&M University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Resource Management. During his time at Texas A&M, he pledged Phi Beta Lambda Fraternity where he became friends with Jordan and Danielle Sulsar and others while there. Sean was also a member of the Society of Human Resource Management. He later earned his Master of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from the University of Houston.
After graduation, Sean's career path led him to The Dow Chemical Company in Midland, Mich., and later to Harris Health System in Houston, Texas. He loved his time at Dow but blossomed with his Harris Health Systems Family where they loved him, and he loved them. He was dubbed the nickname "Data Scientist" that stayed with him until today. A day before his passing, Sean spoke of his desire not to leave Team Members in a bind if he was unable to work. He wanted to do more but the Lord called him home to do his work there. Throughout his illness, The Harris Health System Family was always by his side supporting, visiting, calling and texting Sean to let him know how much they care for him especially, Mr. Omar Reid, Gary Marsh, Lauren Salomon, Jeanifeer Lara, Amanda Jones-Duncan, Chris and Arthey.
Sean was predeceased by grandparents, Preston Johnson, Sr., and Versie Johnson, Ed and Laura Brown; uncles, Gilbert Charles Brown and Randy Johnson
