James Morris "Jim" Isom
January 29, 1947 - August 9, 2024
James M. "Jim" Isom passed away on August 9, 2024, in Pasadena, Texas. He was born on January 29, 1947, in San Antonio, Texas, to Wilbert & Moreene Isom. He graduated from Texas A&M University as part of the '69 Spider D unit.
He started his teaching career in San Antonio. A couple of years later, he moved to Galveston and continued teaching in several schools throughout the Galveston/Brazoria area. Jim helped start up Head Start in Brazoria County. He also received a fellowship with Texas A&M to work at the College of the Mainland to work with adult continuing education. In 2006, he started working for Pasadena ISD and continued teaching there until 2011. From 2013 -2024 He started subbing for Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena ISD. He made a difference in many of his students' lives and he considered that one of his greatest accomplishments.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert & Moreene Isom and a son, Mike Isom. Survivors include his wife, Karen Isom; sister Janice Smith, Melissa Taylor, and Mary Miller; son & daughter-in-law Matthew & Patricia Isom; Daughter-in-law Brandi; son & daughter-in-law Marcus & Anne Isom; son Geoffrey Isom; Step-daughter & son-in-law Melissa & Robert Ferris; Step-daughter Jessica Garrison; Step-daughter Kristin Pedraza; 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
As per Jim's wishes, the family will not hold a memorial service.
