September 2, 1950 - August 11, 2024

Kris A. Johnson, age 73, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, at his home in Longview, Texas, surrounded by his family. Born on September 2, 1950, in Midland, Texas, Kris was known for his creative spirit, selfless nature, and analytical mind. His life was a testament to his faith and the love he had for his family, his work, and his community.

After obtaining his Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University, Kris embarked on a distinguished career as a chemical engineer at Texas Eastman. With his keen intellect and dedication, he ascended through the ranks to become a financial analyst and was known as the financial guru among his colleagues. Kris's professional journey was marked by his passion for innovation and his commitment to excellence.

Beyond his professional life, Kris had a multitude of interests that brought joy to him and those around him. An avid woodworker, he found pleasure in crafting and taking on projects with his grandchildren, leaving behind a legacy of handcrafted treasures. His love for fishing was more than a hobby-it was an opportunity to spend time with his grandchildren, teaching them patience and the beauty of nature.

Kris's faith was a cornerstone of his life. He served as a deacon at Parkway Baptist Church, where his guidance and wisdom were invaluable. His dedication to serving others was evident through his involvement in Awanas, where he touched the lives of many young people with his woodworking skills.

Those who knew Kris would describe him as a man of faith who put others before himself. His selflessness was evident in every aspect of his life, from his unwavering support for his family to his contributions to his community. His analytical mind allowed him to solve problems with ease, and his creativity brought beauty and innovation to everything he touched.

Kris is survived by his devoted wife, Glenda, with whom he shared a beautiful and enduring partnership for 47 years. He was a loving father to his daughters, Heather Gentry and Jennifer Hicks. His joy was multiplied as a grandfather to Covey Johnson, Davin Hicks, Laileigh Hicks, Sam Gentry, and Luke Gentry. He is also survived by his brother, Eric Johnson, and his wife, Christine.

A Life Celebration funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in The Chapel of The Cammack Family Welch Funeral Home.
