September 20, 1938 - September 6, 2024
Clyde Jackson Porterfield, Jr., 85, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas passed away on September 6, 2024.
He was born in Bryan, Texas to Clyde and Irene Porterfield. He married Margaret "Peg" Papendick on March 17, 1962. He was a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Master's Degree in Agricultural Economics. Clyde worked for Texas A&M's Ag Extension Service where he trained all county agencies in the state of Texas on computer programs. Additionally, he attained the rank of Master Sargent in the United States Army Reserve before retiring and moving to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas with Peg in 2000. After Peg's passing, he met and married Ida Mae Pearman of Hot Springs Village. They were married for nineteen years before her passing.
He loved playing golf, tennis and pickleball. Clyde was an avid traveler and loved his yearly trips to Acapulco. He was active in many social groups. He loved playing hand and foot and many other card games with his friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his grandkids. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and was a 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus.
Clyde is survived by his two daughters Meg Esquivel and husband Jeff of Austin, Beth Duncan and husband Mike of Belton. Patrick and Tanna Pearman of Hot Springs Village. His sisters Mary Margaret (Tia) Fowler of Bryan and Linda Lilly of Georgetown. Six Grandchildren, Cole Duncan of Seattle, David Duncan of Belton, Kori and Ronda Pearman of St. Louis, Kelly and Jack Pakis of Hot Springs, Troy Pearman of Reno, Elyse and Brandon Charleson of Utah. Nephew Michael Ryan Fowler and wife Courtney of Katy, Stephanie Lyn Delasandro and husband Tim of Bryan and Emily Lilly Cavett and husband Scott of Yukon, OK. and numerous great grandchildren and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Irene Porterfield and brother Howard Porterfield.
The family would like to acknowledge his caregivers at Good Samaritan Rehab Hospital as well as the friends and staff of Good Samaritan Retirement Community.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ Catholic Church, with a visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. with rosary beginning 30 minutes prior to the service and Father Bill Elser officiating.
