Edward Carl Gregor, Jr.
October 18, 1950 - August 15, 2024
Edward Carl Gregor, Jr., of Farmington, MI passed into eternal life on the Catholic feast day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Thursday, August 15, 2024. He was 73 years old. Carl peacefully entered the Lord’s embrace after several days at Corewell Health Hospital in Farmington Hills.
Born on October 18, 1950, at Detroit Osteopathic Hospital to the late Edward Sr. and Rose (Cirner) Gregor, Carl grew up in Farmington and graduated from Assumption High School in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, in 1968. His thirst for knowledge and drive for excellence led him to earn a bachelor’s degree in marine engineering from Texas A&M University. Carl was known for his brilliance, strength of character, and firm beliefs. He was “old fashioned” in the best way, possessing a practical mind and the ability to fix just about anything.
A devout Catholic, Carl was deeply committed to his faith, attending Mass regularly at Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington. His love for learning and curiosity extended beyond his career; he was especially passionate about electronics and spent much of his time studying and understanding how things worked. His expertise in electronics was matched only by his love for cats, faithful companions in his life. Carl’s unique personality left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. He was strong-willed, set in his ways, and held tightly to his values.
Carl’s memory will be cherished by his family and friends. Though he has left this world, his spirit remains in the hearts of those who loved him. He is survived by his sister, Gayla (Michael) Norris, his nephew, Anthony Norris, and his niece, Ryann Norris.
A Mass of Christian Burial is planned for Friday morning, September 6, at 10:00 am (gathering from 9:30 am) at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Farmington, MI. His interment will take place privately at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Southfield.
May Carl rest in peace, reunited with those who have gone before him, and may perpetual light shine upon him.
