GHS graduate in 1982, no surprise voted “Life of the Party” by her class, Sheryl helped organize many of the high school reunions also serving as treasurer and maintained the contact list. Sheryl attended the University of North Texas and Texas A&M University receiving a degree in Business Administration in 1987. At Texas A&M she met Pam Wilkerson. They remained lifelong best friends and were always there for each other. They frequently chatted on the phone as Pam has lived and worked around the world. More years than not they would hop on a plane and meet up anywhere.
Sheryl was employed for 20 years by transportation engineering design consulting companies KCI and JMT as a project accountant. Sheryl was the go-to person. Quite often when a problem arose the typical response was “Ask Sheryl!”
Friends, family, coworkers and classmates described Sheryl as fun loving, friendly, engaging, warm, easy going, with a winning smile who would strike up a conversation with anyone, anytime and any place. After meeting her you had a friend for life.
Sheryl loved to travel. She and Brian went on many cruises in the Atlantic and Pacific oceans. She of course made friends while cruising that still stayed in touch. She and Brian also visited most of the 50 states, at times spur of the moment, for extended weekends. Her favorites were visiting any historic homes, buildings, sites or gazing at the beautiful scenery.
Her hobbies included gardening especially any plant that is purple, reading, binging HGTV or crime mysteries, baking and Cricut. She enjoyed cheering on the Texas Aggies through good times and bad in person or on TV. But most of all, spoiling all the Dachshunds she had throughout her life.
Sheryl was a lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church in Georgetown. She served on the church council, committees, mentor and assisted in the office.
Donations may be made to the American SIDS Institute, Christ Lutheran Church general fund or any charity in Sheryl’s honor.
