William "Billy Bob" Hale '52 October 3, 2024 4:34 PM updated: October 3, 2024 4:43 PM

William Robert "Billy Bob" Hale

March 9, 1931 - August 27, 2024

Billy Bob Hale went to be with our Lord and Savior on Tuesday, August 27, 2024. He was born March 9, 1931, in Bryan-College Station, Texas, to Fred and Sena Mae Hale.

Billy Bob was a graduate of Texas A&M College, Class of 1952.

He was a Captain in the U.S. Air Force when he married Lysbeth Ann Martin of San Antonio in 1955 (deceased). They spent three years of his Air Force career on Cape Cod, Mass. “That had to be a tough assignment!”

They had two sons, William Magruder Hale (deceased) and Robert Nobel Hale of Oklahoma. He also had many loving nieces and nephews.

Billy Bob had a long successful career with IBM as a programmer. He was also a great salesman and sold Texas A&M their first computer system. He retired and lived in Edna, Texas. Being a small town, Edna reminded him of his young years growing up in College Station. While living in Edna, he renewed an early friendship with Joan Burgess and spent many happy years enjoying new friends.

Billy Bob was a member of Edna First Baptist Church. He especially enjoyed his participation in Sunday School and studying God’s word with many close friends. He took an interest in other ministries, most important was Mission Jackson County, sponsored by First Baptist Church of Edna.

Billy Bob kept up with most of Texas A&M’s athletic programs and had a call list letting us know when A&M was on t.v. playing football, baseball, or basketball. Billy Bob was also a regular for early morning coffee with friends at Whataburger.

He is survived by his son, Robert Noble Hale, Nancy Hale Harrison and many loving nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed.
