Kirk McKnight, 58, of Big Spring died Wednesday, November 26, 2014, at his residence. Funeral services at Myers & Smith Chapel with burial at Mt. Olive Memorial Park.

He was born March 2, 1956 in El Paso, Texas to Verna Lee (Mauldin) and Kermit McKnight. He married Ann Olson on May 20, 1989. She preceded him in death on December 11, 2007. He was a lifetime resident of Howard County, graduating from Coahoma High School. He received his RN degree from Howard College. He had worked at the Big Spring State Hospital, Home Hospice, and Compass Hospice at the time of his death. He was a member of First Baptist Church.

He is survived by two sons: John Olson and his wife Kelli of Beaumont and Tommy Olson and his wife Nikki of Punta Gorda, Florida; two brothers: James McKnight of Conway, Arkansas and Scott McKnight of Romania; one sister: Linda Vigil of New Mexico; step-mother: Edna McKnight of Clinton, Arkansas; four step-brothers: Malcolm Soles, Roy Soles, Wayne Soles, and Lonnie Soles; and eight grandchildren: Seth Cooper, Ashley Olson, and Chelsea Olson, all of College Station, Kayley Olson of Beaumont, Christopher Olson, Michael Olson, Zachary Olson, and Matthew Olson, all of Punta Gorda, Florida.
