Richard F. Wolfe, Maj USAF (Ret)
July 20, 1935 - July 19, 2024
Major Richard F. Wolfe (USAF Ret) age 88 passed away on July 19, 2024 in Bryan, TX.
Richard was born July 20, 1935 in Packerton, a small suburb of Lehighton, PA, the son of Charles W. and Alverta M (Bauer) Wolfe. He married Bliss Audrey Buck in 1957 and had 61 wonderful years together. Richard was a long-time member of Faith United Church of Christ and helped others through Twin City Mission and Eden UCC Theological Seminary. He has been a member of The American Legion for many years and is a senior DeMolay having started with them in approximately 1950. DeMolay is a part of the family of Masons and specifically focuses on shaping young men into leaders of character.
He served in the USAF as a pilot/senior pilot, operations intercept controller and instructor, retiring as Major in March 1976. He served nearly 22 years at duty stations including Germany, Philippines, Canada, Vermont, California, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas. The family settled in College Station upon his retirement to be near Bliss’ family.
Richard is preceded in death by his wife Bliss, his parents, his brother Arthur L. Wolfe and Clayton “Ted” Wolfe; his parents-in-law Reverend Raymond F. Buck, Sr and Lydia L. (Mehrtens) Buck; brother-in-law Reverend Dr. Raymond F. Buck, Jr; sister-in-law Myra (Buck) Bright and husband Arthur D. Bright.
He is survived by sister Edna M. (Wolfe/Arnold) Bradney and husband Norman of Lakeland, FL; sister-in-law Alice (Kypfer) Buck of Bryan, TX; daughters Pamela J. Wolfe of Bryan, TX; Linda G. (Wolfe) Huff and husband Steven “Mark” Huff of College Station, TX.; granddaughter Jennifer D. (Suggitt) Cain and husband Bicker “Field” Cain, IV of Alvin, TX; grandson Christopher A. Huff and wife Tiffany (Daniels) Huff of College Station, TX; Matthew R. Huff and wife Lindsay (Meek) Huff of College Station, TX; Stephen L. Huff of College Station, TX; Stephanie L. (Huff) Bird and husband Ian Bird of Austin, TX. He is also survived by 8 great grandchildren who light up his smile: Alexandra “Lexi” Cain and Sophia Bliss Cain of Alvin, TX; Lincoln Huff, Beckett Huff and Charlotte Huff of College Station; Landry Huff and Kendall Huff of College Station; Adeline Bird of Austin, TX. He is additionally survived by many other extended family members on his and Bliss’ sides of the family including a special nephew and niece Charles Wolfe and wife Pamela who reside in Bath, Pennsylvania. Richard and Bliss made numerous trips to visit them over the years and enjoyed spending time with them.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful caregivers, nurses and aids at Hospice Brazos Valley and Isle of Watercrest.
